I talked with Rebecca Millam aka “Luz Panties” about her roller derby experience. I could hear the excitement in her voice as
she detailed her derby life...Rebecca has been a roller girl for 7 months now. She had never put on a pair of skates in her life
before joining the team. “ It’s hard at first but it’s about sticking with it and making sure you don’t give up. It’s not just a hobby,
that is more individual, as opposed to this, these girls are my family now and I Love It!, It’s Great!” say Luz Panties. 2 weeks
ago Luz Panties was drafted and played her first game and won crowd favorite at this years RollerCon. She is now Co-Captain
of Fresh Meat and also handles orientation for the newbies. I asked her if there is any words of advice she would like to share
with girls who are thinking about joining. Luz Panties - “Skate hard and have fun!”
The OC Roller Girls not only derby but they take part in the OC community by volunteering and donating to local non-profit
organizations like Roll for a Cure, Irvine Animal Shelter, Girls Incorporated and many more. The entire organization is skater
operated by the help of people who volunteer their own time to make this organization succeed. OC Roller Girls is always on the
look out for fresh meat. If you’ve never roller skated before don’t worry they have classes for beginners which will teach you the
fundamentals of Roller Derby and you won’t be thrown into a jam until you pass a skills test. If you want to derby without full
