When Robert Rasmussen and wife Julie opened Roadkill Boutique in 1993, they never
imagined it would be a sought-after haven for style junkies. “Our customers are an
amazing group of free-spirited, artsy individuals who thrive on fashion design and
originality,” says Robert.
The boutique has always carried unique, one-of-a-kind pieces and clothing to suit the
lifestyle of its clientele. In January of this year, the opportunity to expand their store
arose. “We were a little nervous with the economy being the way it is”, says Rasmussen,
“but the space next door was available and we wanted to offer more to our customers.
After 16 years we added an additional 1,000 sq. feet of retail space and are pleased
with the outcome.”
The new space is referred to as “Roadkill Ranch” and delivers an outstanding array of
1940’s and 1950’s inspired clothing. “Our Rockabilly customers who have shopped the
boutique for years - purchasing accessories and shoes, are now ecstatic to be out-fitted
from head-to-toe,” claims Rasmussen.
Roadkill Ranch is full of high-quality clothing and accessories for both
men and women. Name brands like; Bettie Page Clothing, Stop Staring,
Levi, Pendleton and Rockmount are just a few of the collections that
grace the fixtures of the store. They also carry select pieces of true
vintage clothing (mostly men’s cowboy shirts).
“It’s so rewarding when a customer can find what they’re looking for
in our store,” explains Robert. “They don’t have to drive to LA for a
Pendleton shirt anymore and that makes us both happy.”
Along with all of the timeless designs, Roadkill Ranch also features
a cool mix of vintage-inspired jewelry, kids T-shirts, pin-up style
lingerie and fun books. The store has an eclectic and tranquil vibe
as it boasts an 8ft. river rock waterfall and two extraordinary, elk
horn chandeliers. The leather couch that the owners found at an
antique store in Las Vegas, depicts a rodeo scene on the back
cushion.
